As of September 13, 2021 Proof of Vaccination Will Be Required


By order of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), proof of vaccination will soon be required to access The Union Club of British Columbia. Starting September 13, you must have at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. By October 24, you must be fully vaccinated. The requirement is in place until January 31, 2022 and could be extended.


How Will Your Club Monitor Entry?

As of Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 11:59pm, all member cards will be deactivated. Once a proof of vaccination has been provided, your member card will again be programmed to open the doors. If you have not yet provided proof of your vaccination record, please enter the Club through the main lobby entrance.



How Do I Provide Proof of My Vaccination?

For those members who wish to proactively prove their vaccination before September 13, please click the link below to email a photo of your government-issued vaccination card or a screen-capture of your BC Vaccine Card (please be sure to include a legible photo of your vaccination card, clearly showing your name).




Please note: by emailing the Club, you authorize The Union Club of British Columbia to record your vaccination status, knowing that this consent can be withdrawn at any time by notifying the Club.


Should you arrive at the Club on or after September 13 and have yet to provide proof of vaccination, a check point will be set-up at the main entrance, where you can show your vaccination card (with corresponding ID) and be granted entry.


Members will only need to provide their proof of vaccination once, and their member cards will be reactivated and a note will be made on their respective membership profile.


To avoid any embarrassment or disappointment, members are asked to please confirm vaccination with any guests that they are planning to bring to the Club, as they will be asked to provide proof before entering as well.

As of Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021, masks must be worn in all indoor public spaces throughout B.C. to help slow the transmission of COVID-19 as B.C. prepares for the fall and respiratory illness season.

A new order from the provincial health officer will require people 12 and older to wear masks in indoor public settings, regardless of vaccination status. These settings include:

  • malls, shopping centres, coffee shops and retail and grocery stores;
  • liquor and drug stores;
  • airports, city halls, libraries, community and recreation centres;
  • restaurants, pubs and bars (unless seated);
  • on public transportation, in a taxi or ride-sharing vehicle;
  • areas of office buildings where services to the public are provided;
  • common areas of sport and fitness centres when not engaged in physical activity;
  • common areas of post-secondary institutions and non-profit organizations; and
  • inside schools for all K-12 staff, visitors and students in grades 4-12.

This temporary order will be reassessed as the B.C. vaccine card requirement is fully implemented in certain social and recreational settings, as announced on Aug. 23.

Social Distancing is in effect in all areas.  
Member cards will access all the doors.
This is a living/working document that will be updated and will follow the rules of the Provincial Health Authority.

Please follow the signage that has been placed throughout the building.

Hand washing:
All staff must thoroughly wash their hands for at least 20 seconds regularly throughout the day including:

  • upon arriving for work
  • before and after breaks
  • before and after handling common tools and equipment
  • after handling cash or other materials
Front Desk / Lobby:
- Hand sanitizing stations will be placed at all entrances and throughout the Club. .
- Front desk will be equipped with a washable plexiglass partition.
- Credit card reader will be sanitized after each use. All members will pay through member accounts.
Phone Room:
- Social Distancing in effect
- All amenities, mouthwash etc. have been returned with the correct signage for use.  
Main Floor Washrooms:
- Social Distancing in effect
Bottom Floor Washrooms:
- Social Distancing in effect
Sanitizer must be used prior to use, there is signage posted and also a reminder about social distancing.
- Magazines will be available In the Reading Room
- Newspapers will be available In the Reading Room
- Furniture has been re-arranged with the proper spacing in place.
- Hand sanitizing stations throughout the room.
Past Presidents’ Library:
- Social Distancing in effect.
- Only beverage allowed (no food).
- Books that are returned by members are stored for a minimum of 72 hours before being returned to the shelves.  
Billiards Room:
There is to be NO food & beverage consumption in the Billiard Room.
Table availability will be on a "first-come, first-served" basis with no formal reservation system. Members are asked to be cordial and fair when it comes to playing time if others are waiting to play.
The Billiard Room will now be open 7 days a week, from 7:00am to 11:00pm.
Fitness Centre, Changing Rooms & Lockers:
The Fitness Centre is now open and available to members from 6:00am to 10:00pm, Monday to Sunday.   
Business Centre:
- Open - a maximum of 2 people and it will be sanitized after each member leaves.
- This will be monitored by the Accounting office.
Roof Top Patio:
The Roof Top Patio is available for outdoor dining.  Reservations required.
Food service in Member areas:
All food & beverage service has returned to normal, following phase 3 of the Province's Restart plan.

All staff have been provided with Covid 19 information.

All Worksafe BC Guidelines are being followed
